Trip Introduction

After 2-3 days of well acclimatizing in Leh, we drive to Rumtse (85 kms) Tanglang la pass (5328 m) to Tsokar. Beginning to trek from Tsokar. Since this tour is taking place in the Changthang region, which has an average altitude of 4000-5000m, higher than central Ladakh and Nubra valley. In that case a long  acclimatization is must before starting of trek. Tsokar upto Tsomoriri Lake the area is vast dwelt by Changpa nomads. We visit numbers of yurts along our trail and carefully witness nomadic daily life. Crossing over 3 high passes of Kyamayuri la m Kartse la and Yarlung Nyau la we arrive at Karzok phu. One of the largest nomadic settlements in the region. Occasionally chances to see wildlife such as Kyang, black naked crane.


Lungser Kangri 6666m is highest trekking peak in Ladakh or a true trekking peak. It doesn’t require any technical climb like Chamser. Reaching at base camp, you position higher than EBC. Crossing few of 5000m pass gives you essential acclimatisation.
Situated near turquoise Lake of Tsomoriri and glowing high above the Changthang plateau close to boarder with Tibet this area is inhabits by Changpa nomads. After a week of trekking you are arrive at the shore of Tsomoriri where it opens the view of Lungser and its neighbouing mountain of Chamser Kangri.

Outline Trek Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Leh. Pick up at airport, drive to hotel, afternoon visit  - Leh palace - Sankar - Shanti Stupa - Leh market. 
Day 2 - Acclimatize Day trip: Visit Shey - Thiksey - Hemis - Matho - Stok - Spituk.
Day 3 - Drive Leh - Taglang La (5328m) - Pangunagu/Tsokar Lake (4580m) (7-8 hrs)
Day 4 - Trek to Nuruchan (4650m) (5 ½ hrs)
Day 5 - Trek to Horlam-la (4900m) – Rachungkaru (4940m) (4 ½ hrs)
Day 6 - Trek to Kyamayuri-la (5430m) – Kartse-la (5380m) – Gyama (5170m)(6 hrs)
Day 7 - Trek to  Yarlung Nyau-la (5440m) – Karzok (4600m)  (7 hrs)
Day 8 - Trek to Peldo 4560m
Day 9 - Trek to Skyurchu 4850m
Day 10 - Trek to Base Camp 5680m via pass 5930m
Day 11- Trek High Camp 6000m
Day 12 - High Camp 6000m, climb Lungser Kangri 6666m
Day 13 - Descend to Skyurchu
