Trip Introduction

Tarsalamu also known as Urgin La at an altitude of 5362m is located on the Great Himalayan Range, links Darcha (Tod valley) to Miyar valley. The inhabitants of both these valley speaks Tibetan similar to Zanskar & Ladakh. This pass is located remotely and it's a challenging pass which may require ropes. This pass can be combined with further crossing of Kang La. During season only a few trekkers find their way here. It presents some spectacular view of peaks Tharang.

Day 2: At Zanskar Sumdo acclimatise. Walks around

Day 3: Trek to Kuddu (4080). Camp.
Day 4: Trek to snout of glacier (4530m), camp
Day 5: Trek to East base camp (4800m).

Day 6: Trek to West base camp.
Day 7: Trek to Tharang. 5 hrs.

Day 8: Trek to Khanjar, Drive to Manali

Detailed Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Manali – Rohtang pass (3980m) – Kyelang (3100m) - Darcha - Zanskar Sumdo (3900m)

Leaving Manali, at first crossing of Rohtang pass and drive along the Chandra River to Kyelang. Continue through Bhaga and Tod valley to Darcha. Passing through villages of Chikka Rarik to Palamo. Continue to Zanskar Sumdo campsite.

Day 2: At Zanskar Sumdo acclimatise. Walks around

Day 3: Trek to Kuddu (4080). Camp.

Leaving Zanskar Sumdo, we follow the track mostly used by shepherds and remain on true right of the valley. Camp at Kuddu.

Day 4: Trek to snout of glacier (4530m), camp


Day 5: Trek to East base camp (4800m).

Day 6: Trek to Tarsalamu la (5362m) - West base camp (4900m).

Day 7: Trek to Tharang (3700m). 5 hrs.

Day 8: Trek to Khanjar, Drive to Manali
