” Excellent trek to Hampta pass organised by potala adventures. We went in October 2020 and winter had descended in the high Himalayan region. The potala adventures team did a wonderful job in making sure we had an excellent experience. The guides Palden and Pawan were very good. The kitchen staff was fantastic. The food was delicious and we relished every bit of it. The equipment was too notch and we didn’t feel the cold one bit.

Trekking in Ladakh – Zanskar and Himachal
“I was looking to do some extended trekking in the Indian Himalaya and came across Potala Adventurers’ website more-or-less by accident. But it was a good choice.
I found Prem good to work with in settling details for our itinerary and he then proceeded to do an excellent job in organising all the logistics for the trip. We had an great itinerary for a three-week traverse across Ladakh and Zanskar: trekking through Shillakong Gorge was fantastic, the views from Kanji La were superb, I loved trekking above the Zanskar River, it was good seeing the Ladakhi and Zanskari villages, and exiting Zanskar via the Phirtse La route was also a good choice (even if the weather was not so great for the pass itself).
Our subsequent plans for a trekking route from Rupin Pass to Bali Pass were thwarted by changes made by the Uttarakhand state government but Prem did a good job in devising, at relatively short notice, a revised itinerary for the second half of the trip: Hampta Pass-Spiti Valley-Bhaba Pass. There were some great views from the northern side of Hampta Pass and I especially enjoyed a day walk we did from Chandratal to Kunzum La.
The staff employed by Potala were excellent. We really appreciated the hard work they did to make sure everything worked well. The guides, cooks and assistants were all very pleasant people to be with and helped to make this a very memorable experience.”

Trekking in Manali – Hamta circle trek
I chanced upon Potala while looking for a family friendly trekking group since we were 4 families looking for a customized trekking experience in Himachal.
It was the first time for almost all of us and we were hesitant as the youngest in our group was a 6 year old while the oldest stood at 50. But Potala group ensured that it turned out to be a comfortable & interesting trek for everyone.
Mr.Prem from Potala was helpful and gave good suggestions right from the beginning about the things we would need to buy and bring along for the trek. He also arranged a good taxi service for us from Chandigarh – Manali and drop back to Delhi at a reasonable price. Have to make a special mention for our guides Sherp & Sonu, they lead us in a wonderful way and kept the children engaged throughout. Their attitude was warm & helpful, it put us at ease on day 1 itself. We had a wonderful team of people cooking & setting up our tents. We had a wide variety of food to choose from for both dinner & breakfast.
On the whole, the Hampta Circle trek was amazing and the views were marvellous. The Himalayas were breathtakingly beautiful. I would highly recommend Potala for a great experience and our group is looking forward to our next trek. (TripAdvisor Review*****)

La Grande Traversee Du Zanskar – Zanskar Wild & Remote Trek
5* – Excellent – A VERY SPECIAL EXPERIENCE! We did this trek in summer 2017 – it was a very special experience. As promised, the route was really wild & remote. Overall I can say that the trip was very well organised, we had a very competent guide (Sherab) and an excellent cook (Indra). The trek is physically quite demanding, but the experience is well worth it. Especially the river crossings I remember very well. Bring a large brimmed hat and wear long-sleeve shirts. The air is very dry, it took us some time to adapt to it. Some other impressions:
Very good hotel in Leh (quiet location, large room).
Excellent & diverse food – even after many days of walking without the chance of re-supplying (amazing what Indra could do on the gasoline cookers).
Very helpful & friendly team.
Our families at home we notified via e-mail about our location & condition. Sherab used the satellite phones in the villages to talk to Prem.
Sherab knew many people along the route and we were often invited into the houses. We saw among others, blue sheep and ibex. There were fresh tracks of bear and snow leopard.

Friendship Peak Manali
“I totally loved working with Potala Adventures. No wonder they have decades of experience!
I had a very peculiar case; I was the sole climber to Friendship Peak since my friend couldn’t join. Even then, Mr. Prem made everything work well for me in very reasonable cost. He made many adjustments to suit just my needs and organized my climb very well. Now, few details:
1. Looking at my individual needs, he got me an expert staff (my guide used to train other guides at an institute!)
2. I had some of the best, planned meals; since I like vegetarian food with lots of salads and fruits, I got everything taken care of on high altitude mountains
3. We had multiple course dinners and lunches every day; the chef had many years of experience of what to give in high altitude treks and keep it tasty too
4. They carried an oxygen cylinder just in case I feel mountain sickness; not everyone does it!
In a nutshell, I felt safe at all times and very well taken care of. And I climbed the Friendship Peak :)”

Once we stayed with nomads since the home stay was already closed, this was really interesting experience. Sure, the hotel in Leh was great. Stok Kangri – Ladakh
” Thanks Prem and the Potala Adventure team for organizing a fantastic trekking expedition to the summit of Stok Kangri in August this year over a 10 days period. For our team of 3 from Australia (Ken, Scott and Michael) we encountered near perfect weather and thorough acclimatization through the Ladakh valley which resulted in a successful summit of Stok Kangri. We especially give thanks to our main guide Sherab, our climbing guide Raina, our cook and assistant, the horseman and of course 7 hardworking horses who carried all of the expedition gear and we all had a truly wonderful and exciting time trekking throughout the 10 days period. Our main guide Sherab had excellent knowledge on all aspects of the region as well as logistics for our team and the climbing guide was also excellent in both knowledge and skill and safety aspects higher up the mountain when we needed it both. Our trek was relaxed and most often humorous and testimony to how we all got on so well as a team. Our main cook and assistant actually knew a Nepali guide (Netra) we had on a recent trip to Nepal who was our guide on Annapurna circuit a year earlier so in an instance we had a rapport straight away with both of them and shared many jokes together. The cook produced the most amazing meals each day with great presentation throughout the 10 day period and with such a great variety that we ate different dishes most days, in fact there was so much food that we quite often couldn’t finish on some days. We started each day (on time) with warm washing water and breakfast and the routine was excellent and prepared us well for each day of trekking. Lunches were in the form of sandwiches, fruits, fruit juice and a chocolate bar or sweet on most days in a tight proof container which didn’t spoil the meal – again excellent idea.
A special mention to the horseman (and his team of horses) who prepared his horses each day with no problem and we were amazed how much each morning he had to go and round up the horses who were away from the camps in surrounding valleys etc so to him a job well done.
At all times during the trek we felt safe and had excellent equipment and nothing was a problem for your team, we had a great time and everything was well planned and logistically well organized professionally throughout the trek, and because of this we have walked away with lifelong memories and friends from this trip to the summit of Stok Kangri.
Prem and team well done on a fantastic job and we would not hesitate to recommend Potala Adventures to anyone thinking of trekking in India – we had an amazing experience!! Thank you.”

The trek the guide and others went with the carrier for back and passed us to set up camp. In the trek there was a mountain Yalung Nong 6080m, which was very good for acclimatization and with beautiful views. The 2 chefs did a good job on the whole tour. For example, after reaching the mountain, we had prepared tea with milk that made us recover quite well. The muleteer also did a good job. ” Thank you for organizing this trek for my family. Trekking with small kids does feel uncertain, esp a 5 day one in the Himalayas. Your email assurances, my friend shanti sunders confidence in your company, made our signing up easy. Though it rained on the start and there was a little doubt if we should begin our trek on the scheduled day, the next 5 days were fine. Your support staff were patient with us and our kids, esp siddharth who had some hiccups. They were flexible about changing plans to suit our pace and ability. I am really grateful to pritam, karma and Shiva who carried siddharth in their shoulder after the child refused to sit on the pony. The food, the attention and care given to us was excellent. The last day was long and hard but we made it. Again thanks to the team for keeping the kids in good humors and encouraging them to go on. The camp sites were awesome. The snow play on the slopes was the highlight of our trip. The sleeping bags, shawls, tents and the walking stick were comfortable. Of course the closed toilet tents gave us warmth and privacy. Karma’s food was great. Simple, tasty, non-spicy…just the way kids like it. And a dessert every day. My daughter antara says…we are treated like kings….at home we don’t get dessert every day.
Little things like campfires, hot packed lunches, chocolates and juices enroute, NUTELLA the saviour chocolate spread made our trip perfect.
On this trek, the resilient side of antara showed up on the last day…that was very special. We all had such childlike fun sliding on the snow….a perfect family trekking holiday.

” I cannot thank you enough, I had such a wonderful time in Manali and all thanks to you. I moved to the hotel above your offices Hotel Valley View from one of the more expensive hotels where i was just borred. I found it to be very comfortable and better still it is right by the main high street (town centre) Opposite Himachal tour office. Very reasonably priced indeed I would recommend it for convenience to all amenities, your offices and front town and valley view out on the balcony.
The friendliness and helpful local knowledge of the hotel staff (Prem) and you guys was very handy getting around from here is perfect and near by HidImba temlple is about 15 mins up the road. As far as the trekking I could not have asked for a more professional and knowledgeable team. It had snowed considerably I dreaded thinking my trek would be cancelled, but we soldiered on through the deep snow and made camp on the first day in slightly snowy conditions knowing the weather was better forecast for the next day. The camp was so amazing I could not believe it. A kitchen tent doubling as sleeping quarters for the Guide. Ravinder , the chef Yeshu and kully Dai, (Oh dai tu durda que) I had my own wind proof tent. I cannot believe the food Yeshu was cooking us they bought the whole 9 yards with them AMAZING. We built a camp fire and sat our Dukaans (bums) down and watched the Billions of stars in the clearing himachal skies above, what a sight the milky way lighting up the snow, tried to take a long exposure pic, it seems that sight is only for us. What an amazing sight in the morning waking up to a view of the Dhauladhar range in front of us. Spicy cinnamon tea in the morning, and off higher to some awesome views (correct use of the word awesome) the best experience of my life, and i have raced formular 1 hovercraft, swam with dolphins and much more. After a day exploring we reached to camp to find our tents set up and tea waiting. The pass was covered in snow. The cook and guide had to cut path through very steep snow. This allowed our member …porters to cover this dangerous ground. The porters were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed hiking with them. I felt very safe as he guided us up the mountain to the pass, over some challenging snow terrain. It was first time trekking in the snow. He made me feel safe and relax. He also knew a lot about local culture, conditions and nature which he shared with us when we asked.
The cook was great and made tasty food for us for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The porters were also very friendly and strong. I learnt to make roti/Chapati by the fire before dinner with their help. The equipment was excellent warm sleeping bags, new tents, even a tent for the nature toilet. Lots of rice, dahl, tea and even hot chips. The trek itself, the mountains and nature are absolutely breath taking, plenty of waterfalls and spring fed streams. Beautiful big boulders, pristine rivers and snow. Large Cedar, walnut, chestnut and plenty of other trees below the snowlines. Truly an unforgettable experience. We will be come back to do it again and different treks too. “ Everything went according to plan until 3rd June, when we changed itinerary from Urgos overnight to Udaipur. On 5th June we hoped to reach Saichu, but a rock fall on the road forced us to stay at Tindi. After that we had little time for Sural or Saichu nallas, staying only one night at each. The general arrangements were very good. The vehicles were good and so were the drivers. Pemba was extremely careful as well as being helpful around camp. We enjoyed the food; Tashi is an excellent cook and did Indian, European and Chinese food equally well. The lunch sandwiches were very good until brown bread run out. We had lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Tashi was very helpful and efficient in other camp tasks. Overall: A wonderful experience. Staff was cheerful & tried their best when there was a lot of rain. Food was 5 star hotel qualities. And wash tent is important to have.

“ I have completed the Parang la trek from Karzok to Kibber and Kanamo peak from 08 Aug. 2011 to 20 Aug. 2011 organized by Potala Adventurers, with leading Guide Umesh and assistant Guide Ravinder. They are professional, experience, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Umesh has assisted me several times on the river crossings and willing to wait for me, as I am always walking slowly. With no complaints, and also give me support with encouragement on passing the Parang la pass (5450m) and on the Kanamo peak and give full support on during the road blocking on the Batal – Chatru. He also shared with me of his climbing experience and others about the regional history & culture to make the trip interesting. Ravinder served as assistant guide but also acted as cook on the trek. He has done a good job on cooking includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I like much of his fried rice and noodles, potato chips and mixed veg. He also clean up campsite area and burnoff the garbage before leaving, in support of the eco-tourism. ” I went on the Hamta pass trek in early June. I had not read much about the trek before I left, so I didn’t know what I had coming. I was positively surprised with the good knowledge the Guide had about the areas we were passing through. He seems to have real passion for mountains and trekking, which was really encouraging for me. The cook did his best to provide us with the nice dishes as far as it could be done. All the staff on the trek acted professionally in every situation, even when my trek partner was forced to make decision to return with the porters. 1. Response fast and efficient. Constructive advise given. Trek option clear and easy to understand.
2. Price was competitive.
3. Contact on arrival and discussions about the most appropriate trek were efficient and constructive.
4. The guide Ravinder was
a) Very knowledgeable about the area ( He comes from Prini ).
b) Very knowledgeable about flora and fauna – knows all the latin names and happy to answer questions.
c) Spoke good English.
d) Maintained good control of his team: Porters, cook, horseman.
e) Was excellent with briefings + option for routes and timings.
f) Was very good with the children ( Anne 6 years, Rea 4 years ).
g) Was always courteous and attentive.
5. The Porter was excellent with the childrens. Clearly very fit and strong as he carried the children long distances over difficult terrains.
6. The cook was superb, very creative and friendly, also open to suggestions.
7. The horseman was quite + we had little contact with him but he did his job actually well and his horses were in very good conditions.
8. The tents, sleeping bags and equipment were first class. We had warm nights well above the snowline.
9. We were very well cooked after.
10. Situation of campsite was good.
11. The office ( Tenzin Ningbo ) was very helpful in arranging a nice hotel for us.

” Potala was exceptionally response to our requests for specific itinerary concerns. We wanted a slower than was originally planned and Potala made certain each day was perfact for our 70 years. Potala gave us the feeling that nothing was more important to them than the success of our trek. It was a great experience.
Team work is so important in making a trip successful. Our Guide and cook, staff and horseman all work together, each one making certain that our trek was successful. Tent went up promontly, food was delicious, horse even carried lunches some days. Our guide was very attentive to river crossings, to good monasteries and school visits and to our being happy. One staff member showed his knowledge of Himalayan plants with us. Everyone waited for us at Shingo la that was so special”.

“ Despite the unpredictable weather ( especially since it’s the monsoon period ), the company did its best to arrange a trek for us. Dealing had been most professional, during booking to the actual trek. There was also personal touch where the company staff helped to shop for trekking shoes and gloves at the market to helping to look for a medicine man to help treat strained ankle. The company went beyond whats in the itinerary and for that its much appreciated. The trek itself was a memorable experience, with “ luxury ” touch like a Persian mug and checked table cloth & of course 5-star hotel food cooked on the mountains. Kullu – Manali: Deo Tibba 6001m base camp Trek
” The trek to Deo Tibba was a soul-finding experinece for me and the kids. They will surely remember it for a long time, and later on in life realize how it brought them close together. For me, it was a different experience. I learnt a lot. I learnt the meaning of quality oif service, work ethic, the elevation of guests (us) to a status far beyond what I have ever enjoyed. For that I am grateful to our guide Ravinder (also called Virender) and to our helper Anil and cook Tashi. Our horseman who took a low key place deserves great praise for just doing his (very crucial) job very quietly. As the weather tunred bad, the quality of service got better. I remember when the water flooded our tent, ravinder dug a turret around it to keep the water flowing around the tent, not into it. All this is sub-zero weather. My daughter will never forget the hot steaming soup and the four course dinners served with enthusiasm and a smile. POTALA Adventurers people take great pride and pleasure in doing their jobs well. It is a rare thing and the purity of their satisfaction at making us comfortable, come rain or shine or snow, is a humbling experience. I also think it is a dying culture, because very few people take pride in their work, above and beyond the call of duty. So I am grateful to POTALA adventurers for keeping it alive. It is so much part of what I admire of your hardy Pahadi culture. The Pahari people are honest, forthright and proud, and do not compromise the quality of service. From the first moment I felt secure about taking my three kids with me (something that my wife always worried about). I learned a lot from Ravinder about botany and the treasures of nature. He reminds me of the character in the Kurosawa movie ” Dersu Uzala: The Hunter” (please tell him to watch it — he will relate to it like no one else can). We didn’t just have a great time, we came away much richer with the experience. And yes, the splendor of the Himalayas is a breathtaking sight to behold. There is a reason the Gods live there.”

” Formally having trekked to Beas Kund on 16.10.09, I have returned with more friend who were hungry for adventure. Deo Tibba trek has satisfy us in every way. I have experienced everything I have set out for. Passing through forest, hiding in caves during hail storms and walking against snow fall. The best moment was conquering peak Raudi Khodi on 29.05.10 with my friends.
Our Guide Virender ( same guide on Beas Kund ) made it as amazing as it would be. Sheru our cook was just as good a code of Bheem of Mahabharat. We have renamed Tenzin Adventure. I thank a lot for giving us everything we needed. Will keep coming back to Tenzin and Virender.”
