The surroundings of Deo Tibba above 3500m. provide the finest skiing and heli-skiing slopes that are known worldwide today.
We start our expedition from an ancient village of Jagatsukh to Chikka, which is at an altitude of 10200 feet. The further crossing of Seri and to Tenta – our base camp for the Deo Tibba climb. We will go for camp I and via Piton ridge climb Deo Tibba. Superb 6000m summit in Kullu valley, approach to the base with short trek & view of GH range and its peak.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Manali (1950 m / 6,397 ft).
Arrive Manali from Delhi or Chandigarh. Check into your hotel. Rest and relax. Evening explore local bazar of Manali.
Day 2: Acclimatize.
An acclimatize & spend your day in Manali, and also final preparation for Deo Tibba peak expedition. Or local sightseeing in around Manali. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 3: Manali to Jagatsukh – Khanol (2700 m) by car, Trek to Chikka (3215 m / 10, 547 ft).
Leaving Manali, Drive through the left bank of Beas River up to Jagatsukh. Which was once the old capital of Kullu valley or Kuluta. From Jagatsukh new road up to Allain Duhangan hydro project. Setting to trek from this point at first the trail ascends gradually through thick pine forests along the narrow Duhangan nallah. Continue to trail we reach the campsite 2-3 hours. Chikka is significant for Jagatsukh people for its temple and there are few huts for devotees to stay. With its spectacular sights all around. A wonderful campsite.
Day 4: Chikka to Seri (3935 m / 12, 910 ft).
Today leaving Chikka behind we gradually climb along the Duhangan nallah through the birch forest. We pass shepherd’s encampment en route and hear the sound of Duhangan nallah gushing down the valley. After passing the Panduropa and Dudu Patthar until we reach the Seri, where the valley opens a little. Seri was once a glaciated lake, but now it has been totally converted to an alpine meadow carpeted with an astounding variety of herbs and alpine flowers. On the extreme left of Seri the huge waterfalls gush down from Tenta cliffs. Overnight camp at the flat and vast alpine pasture.
Day 5: Seri to Base camp / Chota Chandertal (4480 m / 14,698 ft).
Leaving Seri at first on its flat carpeted meadow and soon after the crossing of stream awaits us. The stream can be cold depending on the time we are trekking. Early spring and late autumn bring water temperature to its 0-5 C. Soon after crossing the stream we climb to Tenta. The trail passes through numerous rock boulders and crossing of the stream again awaits just before the campsite. Wonderful campsite at Tenta presenting spectacular scenery i.e. hanging glaciers and high peaks with most awaited Deo Tibba to its left. Leaving Tenta we hike to visit Chota Chandertal or the base camp of Deo Tibba. At first, the trail is through moraine, Deo Tibba and its hanging glacier remain in the sight throughout the day. continue to climb straight uphill to Chota Chandertal which is situated above within rocky mountain. Arriving at the lake the spectacular scenery all around. We are at the maximum altitude of our trek. This will be our base camp for Deo Tibba.
Day 6: Rest day, Acclimatization / training (4480 m / 14,698 ft).
Rest day at base camp. Spend the day practicing climbing techniques on the snow and ice. Overnight at base camp.
Day 7: Load ferry to Camp 1. (5150 m / 16, 896 ft).
Today climb up the Duhangan col gully, off the loads at Camp 1, and return back to base camp.
Day 8: Base camp to Duhangan col – Camp 1 (5150 m / 16, 896 ft).
Today all the Deo Tibba peak team moves to Camp 1 and the guide will decide the further route to be taken to summit camp.
Day 9: Load ferry to Summit camp. (5500 m / 18, 044 ft).
Load ferry to summit camp at 5500 meters. The leading guide will decide which route to be possible taken. Leave loads at the summit camp and return back to camp 1.
Day 10: Camp 1 to Summit camp (5500 m / 18, 044 ft).
All team moves to the summit camp. And will decide by the lead guide which route to be taken for the summit push.
Day 11: Summit (6001m)- back to camp 1 (5150 m / 16,896 ft).
Today is an eventful and strenuous day, the summit push begins at 2 am. After reaching the summit return to camp 1 for an overnight stay.
Day 12: Camp 1 to Base camp (4480 m / 14,698 ft).
All team moves to base camp today.
Day 13: Base camp to Chikka (3215 m / 10, 547 ft) to Khanol trek, Khanol to Jagatsukh – Manali by car.
A long day ahead, so leaving early from base camp. Descend all the way down to road head and drive to Manali. Check into the hotel and rest relax and wash.
Day 14: Depart Manali to Chandigarh – Delhi.
